I am all about experimenting and exploring all avenues of health including those that may not get talked about a lot. I have done videos on my skin care product experiment and on oil pulling for my teeth. You can find those on my Youtube channel. Part of those experiments were using essential oils. I have gotten more interested in learning about the many uses of essential oils. I even bought a book on the many uses and natural remedies of essential oils. It was this book that prompted me to reach out to one of my many contacts involved in the space and asked them to write a post for all of you.
I have known Andrea for four years and consider her a good friend. She is even assisting our family with some skin issues (a post for another time).
Please note: She discusses the company she works with; however, I have no monetary relationship with either her or the company.
There is even a couple recipes at the end of the article.
I first learned about Essential Oils many years ago while visiting a friend who also worked in the health and wellness industry. I had never heard of essential oils for health and was a wee bit sceptical. I wanted to see the science, and hear from the experts. After researching and learning about Essential Oils, I knew I was onto something truly natural and the Oils would be a beautiful compliment to my practice. I started studying the health benefits and science of these Gifts of the Earth and after using the oils on myself, my dog and my clients I found the oils supported our best health in a simple and natural way. I began to see noticeable differences in myself and those I worked with.
There are a lot of different types of oils on the market and I get that it can be overwhelming to choose which oils are the best for you and your family. I choose dōTERRA®’s pure, unadulterated, optimally-sourced oils that clearly set them apart from any competitors. I love that doTERRA’s products go through rigorous testing to ensure that they meet the standard called Certified Pure Tested Grade (CPTG), which is verified by third party labs.
I’d like to introduce you to 3 really cool things about Essential Oils and 3 simple ways you can begin using them right away.
- doTERRA Essential Oils are 100% NATURAL AND SAFE:
Oils are extracts from plants that have amazing health benefits. doTERRA’s oil is about 50-70 times more powerful than herbs. One drop of peppermint essential oil is equivalent to drinking 28 cups of peppermint tea – that’s potent!
When it comes to certified pure tested grade Essential Oils, there’s nothing added to the oil or taken away from the oil. They’re safe for babies, children, pets, adults, and the elderly.
- doTERRA Essential Oils are EFFECTIVE:
They are often more effective than many modern approaches to health problems. They can permeate the cell membrane and address the root cause of health problems. They can work on a cellular level without side effects or addictions, and they can combat bacteria on the outside of the cell and prevent the duplication of viruses on the inside.
- doTERRA Essential Oils are AFFORDABLE:
With the versatility of essential oils, I save boat loads of money. When I use them for health concerns, or healthy support, I might use 1-2 drops. So, when I break it down by cost per drop, I am spending so little to take care of my health, and my dog’s health challenges.
USING ESSENTIAL OILS:
There are a few ways to use essential oils aromatically. You can put a drop in your hands, rub them together and breathe in from your hands. You can use them in a diffuser. Depending on the size, you can add 3-5 drops and enjoy the aroma and breathe in the benefits. Or you can simply inhale right from the bottle.
I take Wild Orange with me wherever I go so I can inhale wherever I am. Wild Orange is like inhaling sunshine for me!
You can actually apply oils directly to the skin. For children, pets and people with sensitive skin, you’ll want to dilute them with fractionated coconut oil (or any high-quality carrier oil). You can even apply oils to the bottoms of your feet before bed or first thing in the morning – the skin on the bottom of your feet is typically thicker and may not require as much dilution.
I like using lavender on all things itchy (bug bites or cuts), and peppermint on my temples when I have head tension.
**Please note that citrus oils are photosensitive and are not recommended for topical application if you will be exposed to direct sunlight**
doTERRA Essential Oils are not only safe to use internally, they are RECOMMENDED. The CPTG standard means these oils are tested and are completely safe to ingest – unlike most other brands that are synthetic or adulterated. You can put a few drops in your mouth or drink a few drops in your water (don’t use plastic – choose glass when possible). If you don’t like the taste, put them in a veggie capsule. **Please note that not all oils are suggested for internal use. Check for the “I” for internal before taking internally. **
I love having Lemon Oil with me so I can add to my water for a burst of joy and great flavour!
ESSENTIAL OILS ARE FOR MEN TOO:
For some men, using essential oils might seem like something only women do. However essential oils are extremely versatile and can be used by people of any age and any gender. These DIY recipes are created for men’s everyday personal care needs.

I definitely think there is a place for essential oils in our lives, especially as we try to use less harsh and damaging chemicals in our homes and on our bodies. It is something that our family continues to experiment with.
